In the December issue, David Kurns asked if anyone had seen an oddball Brookfield beehive wherein the dome was much larger above the wire groove than below it. Lots of collectors reported having one or more of them. Lee & Dennis Stewart and Randy Wesner sent in the pictures below. Here are some of the comments we received:

Randy Wesner: "It looks to me like the dome and the skirt are on the same angle and just above the wire groove it flares out. About the last half inch. I'm guessing that the mold was re-worked and they got a little happy removing the metal. If you look carefully at the surface you can see machine marks."

Jack Kesling: "Many of these were found in the early 60's in Georgia. I traded two or three dozen or so into the hobby many years ago."

Linda Kartye: "I found a Brookfield beehive just like the one that Dave Kurns is asking about this last summer."

Bill Sutliff: "I have two of the exact insulators, and was going to ask the same question. I got mine in August at a flea market in Pittsburgh. Paid $1 each. I saw them from 20 feet away and immediately noticed the difference in shape. Looks to me almost like a CD 145 and CD 151 cross breed."

Bernie Warren: "I'm pretty sure I have a dozen or so of these in a couple of boxes in storage. I picked them off the ground along an old railroad in New Brunswick in the summer of 1992."

Two different mold numbers on the dome were reported.
